We have just had a great day with Michael Parkinson classifying with 5 new EX and 7 multiple EX, and the 2yr olds went really well with 8 VG 2 yr olds and 7 GP with an average on 15 heifers of 84.33 points!

We scooped two prizes in the recent Lancashire Holstein Club Herds Competition.
Twinfields Martel Shana was 1st Heifer in Milk
Our Group which included T Salto Abbie, T Roy Trixie, T Shottle Karen, Ridgefield Storm Ivory and T Astro Jenny was also 1st in the Groups
After calving for the 7th time and with her first natural heifer calf by Shottle, Ridgefield Storm Ivory moved up to 95 points with an EX 97 point mammary

Twinfields Raider Cathy moved up to 93 points after calving her 8th calf

We had 3 VG 2yr olds with Twinfields Dolman Trix VG86 2yr old x EX94 Astre x EX 92

Twinfields Stormatic Kitty VG85 2yr x T Champion Kitty EX91 x 4 more high yielding Kittys, she has daughters by Final Cut and Million
We also had a couple of good results in the Border and Lakeland winter herds comp with Storm Ivory coming third in the Iron Grandma class and our group of 5 cows also getting third place
We have just had 2 cows in the last month reach 100 tonnes of milk, they are Twinfields Astre Abbie EX 92 (3E) LP 100 and Twinfields Lieutenant Ina EX 91 (2E) LP 100 both still going strong.

We have the results back for our 2 Saras that we genomicaly tested and are really pleased with the results, Twinfields Million Sara GLPI 2225 and +14 on type, and GTPI 2098 and GPTAP 3.2 puts her at the number 9 Million on the GTPI list in Europe, and Twinfields Million Gold Sara GLPI 1814 and + 10 on type and GTPI 1846 and GPTAT 2.29

  • T Shottle Marqi 6 - bred from 14 gens VG or EX this in calf heifer already has 3 VG86-2yrs full sisters and a VG85-2yrs sister by Gibson. Her full sister Shottle Marqi 4 VG86-2yrs is pictured below. She sold for 3500gns

We had a classification recently with the following highlights:-

  • T Astre Trix moved up to 94 points (7E) as a 10 th calver and looks great
  • T Astro Jenny and T Astro Sungold both moved up to 93 pts as fourth calvers and are now 2E
  • T champion Kitty moved up to 91 pts, her sister T Morty Kitty (pictured below) also went 91 pts for Brian Moorhouse at Aireburn

  • We had 3 VG 2yr olds, topping the list was T Martel Shana VG87 2yr, a really classy black Junior 2y old which will be going up to the Northern Expo. She is half sister to T Shottle Shana also 87 2yr that we sold at Lancaster at the 600th sale. She is the first daughter of T Martel a Talent son out of Ridgefield Leduc Marqi.
  • We have two full sisters by Shottle out of Leduc Marqi who both went 86 2yr and the full sister that we sold to Liz Wolfenden is also 86 2yr old so we are really pleased with how the family is developing

Elm Park Tiara Red has gone EX90 2nd calf with a 93 pt udder. We have also just got another heifer from her and we will be flushing her older sister Tory Red in the autumn

We had 2 new VG 2yr olds a couple of weeks ago:- Twinfields Talent Helena went VG85 she is an 11 gen VG or EX and is out of Whartonspool Jordan Helena and Twinfields Final Karen also went VG85, her dam is a VG88 integrity then a 91 and a 92 point dams. She is the second daughter of 2 to go VG 2yr out of Integ Karen.

Congratulations to Brian Moorhouse at Aireburn with his 2007 Black and White purchase Twinfields Shottle Ivory who scored VG85 2yr. That's both daughters of Ivory scored VG 2yr now so we look forward to the future.

We also won the cup for the Best heifer sold at the Lancaster Club sales in 2009 with Twinfields Shottle Shana.

We are very proud with our recent success at the Lancashire Holstein Club's 600th anniversary sale.
On 22nd January our homebred Shottle heifer, Twinfields Shottle Shana PI VG-87 2yr won the Intermediate heifer in milk, before being made sale Champion by judge, Elwyn Thomas at Gatrog. She was 4 months calved and still giving 33.5kg when sold with her dam being an 86 point Gibson tracing to an Ultimate cow from Elmcroft. Gaerwen Vaughan of the Cilast herd in Pembrokeshire bought her for 5,000 guineas and we wish him every success with Shana. She is 4th gen VG or EX.

We have just calved one of our most promising heifers, Twinfields Redwood Abbie. She stands at 62" and is a daughter of Twinfields Stormatic Abbie VG89 (read more about them in the homebred families).
Redwood Abbie is a December 2006, Cederwal Redwood daughter bred from two Ex dams. She had a red son for sale by the Advent son Buckhorn- Acres Raid Red and is waiting to see the classifier.

We have a new arrival in the calf house, a Fortune daughter of Dixellen Lheros Mavis, with more pregnancies due.
Twinfields Fortune Mavis is a February 2009 born daughter of the high type Durham son who is unavailable in the UK and has than 20 registered UK daughters. Mavis is a Fortune x VG87 Lheros x EX92 Rudolph.
